I have moved away from supporting the Reform Party, when I gave consideration to standing as an Independent Councillor in the May, 2025 elections. During the general election national issues and problems were central to the campaigns of the political parties, including mine.
From my experience as a Parish Councillor, I understand and appreciate that local issues are uppermost in peoples minds, with concerns re their quality of life.
However, I made the decision not to stand in the Cornwall elections as I felt that the way potential Reform candidates were recruited in Cornwall and their lack of local, political experience would result in Reform not securing the overall majority to form an administration. And I have been proved right. Paper Candidates filling 'holes' in an attempt to secure a majority, has resulted in some Reform Councillors living over 40 miles away from the Ward, and local communities now voicing their opinions that the majority of Reform Councillors lack that local, political knowledge.
